What made Raghuvaran the most passionate engineer?

Talk about engineering in Tamilnadu as madonna says in her venture, kadhalum kadandhu pogum, "Tamilnadu la yaar dhan enginneer illa. Ellaru engineer dhan ",  most of us are engineers atleast for the sake of spending 4 years at a distant location only to realise that it is of no use if the right college is not chosen.
Disclaimer: This post is not intended to provoke any offensive thoughts regarding engineering colleges. Infact, this a semi-fictional post.
Since this post is all about the character Raghuvaran from the movie VIP, I would like to peek into his life to discover his choice of college and to find out the factor that made him so passionate about his profession. Firstly, he owns a luna which he claims to be gifted by his father for securing the first mark in grade 7. Obviously, the gift is too big for grade 7. But when we move forward, we hear his father saying that he scored well in his boards which leads us to an understanding that he has completed his schooling on a high. Assuming that he scored big and chose an once-reputed college as most of us did, we will take a look into what he would have gone through to transform himself into what he became. After choosing a college which is nearly a lightyear away from his home, he is bamboozled to hear he has to compulsorily use the college bus and eat the food provided by the college. After all it is impossible to reach the college through public transport. He accepts everything and starts adapting to everything happening around him, right from the 15 minute lunch to sitting next to his stinking seniors while travelling back to his home. He keeps himself away from arrears and his friend circle in check. After a year, a bombshell is dropped on him saying that the intake of the college has dropped drastically and is running through something bad financially. This frustrates him further and pushes him to the breaking point in the subsequent semesters as he finds all the facilities disappearing in no time. The worst of them being only three faculty members present in the department and himself being forced to mention a stranger as his project guide. Things never got better and he is unable to express what he is going through. With nobody around to console or guide him, he wanders around looking for opportunities. At no point, he was ready to give away his ethics or the passion towards what he pursued. To top it off, his mother's demise shatters him and puts him on track to be the responsible first-born and the rest is history.
Raghuvaran was a late-bloomer by Indian standards, but his passion drove him to what he achieved. He was successful despite all the hindrances. The frustrations about his shut-down college strengthened him further and helped him reach the peak.
